Heray Saffron- Afghanistan
** Please note, packaging has changed. The quantity and product remain the same.
We met up with Heray Spice at the NYC Fancy Food Show by chance (and luck!) because they were the only exhibitors from Afghanistan. They are Afghan immigrants who worked with the US Army and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) inside Afghanistan from 2008 to 2014. Heray Spice has a vision for community uplifting. They are empowering a co-op of 28 family farmers who employ sustainable agricultural practices by promoting fair trade practices and sustainable agriculture. Additionally, they are committed to EMPOWERING WOMEN and SUPPORTING EDUCATION in Afghanistan through the Heray Education Fund.
Their Saffron is a treasure cultivated in the vibrant fields of Afghanistan in the village of Herat, where ideal climate and rich soil contribute to its exceptional quality. Grown with care and harvested by skilled hands, this saffron embodies the essence of centuries-old traditions and a commitment to excellence.
Meticulously handpicked from the delicate stigma of the Crocus sativus flower, with its distinctive aroma and delicate floral notes, this saffron elevates dishes to new heights. Each thread holds a world of flavor, fragrance, and vibrant golden color, infusing your culinary creations with a touch of luxury and sophistication.
Recipes calling for saffron like Risotto Milanese Style from Italy, Paella from Spain and Tahdig from Afghanistan/Iran , curries, beans and rice dishes will be made extra special with Heray Saffron. Try a saffron latte for something different for your AM routine. 1 gram jar
